A romantic getaway for an interior freak: Hotel Klaus K

I love my kids. More than anything in the world. But to be honest, sometimes I miss the feeling  when we were just the two of us – me and my husband. I miss the lazy mornings when we had all the time in the world just to stare into each others’ eyes and not to say anything… I miss beeing the center of the attention of my husband.

Luckily our kids are getting big so every once in a while we can escape the world. The hectic everyday life does not offer that change often, but when it does the sweeter it is. On our summer vacation my husband stole me away for a full 24 hours.

My husband is a kind of a man who likes to see things matter. Who really takes time in considering what I might like and what I will enjoy. It is easy to stay in love with a husband like he is even we have been married almost 18 years!

My Mr. Hallmark took me for a little hotel-getaway. And he chose the hotel wisely. He took me to a design hotel that has beautiful contemporary interior design. The hotel Klaus K locates just in the heart of Helsinki. The entrance of the hotel gives a little incoherent welcome. The hotel restaurant locates on the entrance level and it is a very traditional looking Italian style restaurant. The actual front desk of the hotel is on the second floor. The front desk area is somewhat messy with too much paper and flyers lying on each table top. As the hotel markets itself as a design hotel, they should really pay more attention to the first impression.

The hotel room – a modern Skyn loft suite –  was amazing! The corridors leading to the rooms were interesting, focusing on details. The room opened as a large studio with the bed area a few steps higher than rest of the room. The room had a tiny attic window and a skylight window, so there was not much of a view. The modern furniture left much space to the open room. The bed was comfortable and the linen beautiful. There were a few extremly great interior ideas in the room, like the headboard of the bed. But what really stood up in the room was the amazing light fixtures! These unique light fixtures made the room look upclass and chic.

The headboard of the bed was interesting with built-in wooden frames and a carpet on the wall. The LED light gives the headboard a fascinating look. A great idea to adapt.

The bathroom was absolutely beautiful! One of the most beautiful hotel bathrooms I’ve ever been in. The stylish and modern tiles, the shower heads and even the shower drain was all given a thought into the smallest detail. But once again, what I loved the most was the light fixtures. It made the bathroom look elegant. So sassy. So chic. And at the same time the atmosphere was extremly zen.

The bathroom was made to detail. The Etch light fixture by Tom Dixon gave the room a lavish look.

The bathroom was made to perfection in details. The tiles, faucets, indirect lights, even the drains. A bathroom for relaxation!

The DSIGN designers had made amazing job with the rooms. They have turned them into elegant and sophisticated 5-star hotel rooms. It is truly sad that the other hotel features do not reach the same level! The hotel lounge is just average. The surroundings are stylish but the service fails and the staff clothing does not match the image hotel Klaus K is trying to create.  The hotel restaurant is way below avarage. The style of the restaurant is out of place, the interior messy, the service arrogant and the food is a great disappointment. Klaus K should take a step further to make all ends meet. My advice for a perfect getaway is this: enjoy the beautiful rooms of the hotel but for restaurant services look around the corner. The hotel locates in the heart of the city – you will find what you are looking for elsewhere.

The interior designing is at its best in every small detail the Sky Loft rooms have to offer.
